The first official race of the 2025 season was the 50th Annual Dog Days of August Bradley Invitational hosted by Kenosha Tremper on the UW-Parkside National Cross Country Course.
Dax Peterson lead the boys team finishing in 7th place with a time of 20:01. Leading the girls squad was Sihana Alimi capturing 9th with a time of 23:29. I was very pleased with the effort and times turned in by all of our runners. Parkside is a very tough course and we handled it well. Four of the eleven boys competed in their first race and ran well. Finishing that first race is important and for them to do it at Parkside was very nice to see.
Second year runner Owen Spleha-Auer established an new PR by over 12 seconds with a time of 22:53. Owen put in the miles over the summer months and it has paid off.
Our next race will be the Bulldog Invitational at McCarty Park hosted by West Allis Central. The first race will start at 4:00 pm with the Girls JV. This meet is much larger than the Tremper one. Over 18 teams will be competing. This course will also host our Conference Meet. We will not run a complete Varsity team for the boys and the girls. We need to get the other runners beside Dax and Sihana to run a little faster to compete at the Varsity Level.

uThe Janesville Midwest Invitational turned out to be a very good meet for most of our team. Because of several athletes being sick, we were not able to field a full team for any of the races on Saturday.
Junior Luke Strasser continued a very good season finishing 52nd out of 358 runners with a PR of 16:32. He is very close to running a time that will be in the Top 10 of all times. On the JV level, Sophomore Easton Nowak finished 24th out of 447 runners tying his PR of 20:30.
Freshmen Valentina Marini continued to lower her time by placing 39th out of 305 runners with a new PR of 19:49. This time is the 2nd fastest in school history. June Lesinski is having a very good senior season by establishing another PR of 20:37 finishing 70 place in the same race. June's new time puts her number 6 all-time.
We are looking forward to competing at the Cudahy Purgold Invitational next Saturday, October 5 in Sheridan Park. We hope SM fans will turn out to support our hard working runners.
