Grant Park Course Records
The 2025 Cross Country season ended with the State Championships held at the Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids.
Dax Peterson & Luke Strasser ended their high school careers by competing at this meet.
Luke finished in 101st place with a time of 17:12. This was Luke's 3rd time at State. The course for the State Meet is the hardest we run all season. We were hoping that he would break 17 minutes. His first mile was a little slow. With all the best runners in the state at this meet, that first mile is very crowded. He picked up the pace after the first mile and finished very strong that last mile. He passed a lot of runners during that last mile. Luke has had a great career at SM. He was our number 1 runner the past 4 year.
Dax was 150th with a time of 17:51.7. With this being his first time at State, I was very pleased with how he competed. I know he wanted to run a faster time. It is very hard to run a PR on this course with all these good runners around you. Dax worked hard all summer and during the season and that enabled him to have the best season of his high school career.

uThe Janesville Midwest Invitational turned out to be a very good meet for most of our team. Because of several athletes being sick, we were not able to field a full team for any of the races on Saturday.
Junior Luke Strasser continued a very good season finishing 52nd out of 358 runners with a PR of 16:32. He is very close to running a time that will be in the Top 10 of all times. On the JV level, Sophomore Easton Nowak finished 24th out of 447 runners tying his PR of 20:30.
Freshmen Valentina Marini continued to lower her time by placing 39th out of 305 runners with a new PR of 19:49. This time is the 2nd fastest in school history. June Lesinski is having a very good senior season by establishing another PR of 20:37 finishing 70 place in the same race. June's new time puts her number 6 all-time.
We are looking forward to competing at the Cudahy Purgold Invitational next Saturday, October 5 in Sheridan Park. We hope SM fans will turn out to support our hard working runners.
