Welcome friends, family, and supporters of South Milwaukee Boys & Girls Cross Country.
What a great day for SM Cross Country. The boys finished 6th at the State Meet yesterday. Please check our results and then you can see all results at www.pttiming.com.
This was the best finish by a boys team in 51 years. These boys (all of the boys & girls) have worked so hard to make this happen. They logged all the miles that it take to be competitive at this level. There is no fun in June, July & August, but Saturday, when they posted that we were 6th, that's when all that hard worked paid off. They deserve all the accolades that should come with finishing 6th at the state meet. We only missed 5th place by 1 point. The toughest part about Saturday was waiting for the team results to be posted. They kept posting the individual results, but the the team scores. Finally, about half way through the next race they started posting. It started with 10th place. No SM, I thought maybe we didn't make top 10. I know the competition would be close. Then they kept posting. Finally the display board (same one you see at the Rocket Invite) listed 6th place with South Milwaukee. What a great moment for our program and our athletes.
Jordan's 8th place finish is the highest individual finish by an SM athlete in over 50 years. His time was the 12 best of all 3 divisions. He will be named to the 1st All-State later this fall. Chris's time was the 32 best of all 3 divisions and he will earn 2nd Team All-State honors.
Maddie Wood competed in her 3rd State Meet and finished 119. I know she was hoping to place higher, but it just wasn't her day. She has had a great career at SM.
The coaches and team would like to thank our parents and fans for their support. It awesome to see so many parents and fans at the State Meet to cheer us on.
